Inauguration of the Solar Power System at the National Assembly of Madagascar

On 4 September 2024, President of the National Assembly H.E. Mr. Justin Tokely, Minister of Armed Forces and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Lt. Gen. Sahivelo Lala Monja Delphin and Ambassador of India H.E. Mr. Bandaru Wilsonbabu, took part in the inauguration of the Solar Power System at the National Assembly of Madagascar, set up under the grant assistance of the Government of India. The Vice Presidents and other Members of the Permanent Bureau of the National Assembly and the Acting Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs were among the dignitaries who took part in the ceremony.

2. In his speech, the President of the National Assembly H.E. Mr. Justin Tokely, expressed his gratitude to the Government of India for setting up the Solar Power System, which enabled the National Assembly to transition to clean energy and reduce its green house gas emissions. He also said that the installation of the Solar Power System highlighted the leading role of National Assembly in the fight against climate change.

3. In his speech, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu noted that the installation of Solar Power System at the National Assembly was a symbol of the deep rooted India-Madagascar friendship and a vivid reflection of the efforts of the two countries in the fight against climate change. He also reaffirmed India’s readiness to share its developmental experience and expertise as per the needs and requirements of Madagascar. He hoped that the Parliaments of the two countries will join their efforts to further strengthen India-Madagascar partnership.  A special exhibition on millets was also held at the National Assembly on this occasion.
