Launch of “India Corner” at the National Library of Madagascar


An “India Corner” was launched on 6 December 2024 at the National Library of Madagascar in Antananarivo by the Minister of Communication and Culture of Madagascar H.E. Mrs. Volamiranty Donna Mara and Ambassador of India H.E. Mr. Bandaru Wilsonbabu. Secretary General of Ministry of Communication and Culture Mr.  Fetraniaina Rakotondrasoava and Director General of the National Library of Madagascar Mr. Liva Ravoniarison were among the dignitaries who took part in the event.  

2. In her speech, Minister of Communication and Culture Mrs. Volamiranty Donna Mara referred to the long-standing ties of friendship between India and Madagascar and said that the ‘India Corner’ will help the local students  and research scholars to learn about India’s rich history, cultural heritage as well as its  achievements in various fields.  

3. Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu spoke about the remarkable progress achieved by India during the past 77 years of independence, especially in the fields of Space, Information Technology, Digital Payments, Renewable Energy, Health etc and expressed Embassy’s readiness to work closely with the relevant agencies in Madagascar to further strengthen the mutual understanding about each other’s history, languages, culture and traditions.  The event also witnessed a demonstration of yoga by the Embassy’s Teacher of Indian Culture as well as musical performances by local artists.  

4.    The launch of “India Corner” at the National Library of Madagascar is in line with India’s ancient philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family)” and Vision SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region). As a close neighbour and fellow developing country in the Indian Ocean region, India will remain a reliable and committed partner in the developmental journey of Madagascar.
