Handing Over Ceremony of the Trucks donated by the Government of India 


President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of Madagascar H.E. Mr. Dama Andrianarisedo Arsene, Minister of Transport and Meteorology of Madagascar H.E. Mr. Valery Ramonjavelo and Ambassador of India to Madagascar H.E. Mr. Bandaru Wilsonbabu took part in the handing ceremony of 3 no.s of  9-ton trucks donated by the Government of India to CENI in Antananarivo on 10 December 2024. The ceremony was also attended by the Members of the Permanent Bureau of CENI, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other dignitaries of the Government of Madagascar. 


President of CENI H.E. Mr. Dama Andrianarisedo Arsene was grateful to the Government of India for the donation of the trucks. He said that these trucks will be immediately put to use for transportation of electoral materials for the Municipal and Communal Elections to be held across Madagascar on 11 December 2024. In his speech, Minister of Transport and Meteorology H.E. Mr. Valery Ramonjavelo expressed the gratitude of the Government of Madagascar for the generous donation of the trucks by the Government of India to CENI. He said that this donation reflected the deep-rooted bonds of friendship between India and Madagascar as well as the growing cooperation among the countries of the Global South.


In his speech, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu said that the trucks manufactured in India by “Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV)” were a testament to India’s emergence as a global leader the manufacturing of automobiles. He also noted availability of servicing and spare parts for the trucks through VECV’s local distributor “EDL Automoto”. Ambassador took the opportunity to wish CENI and other authorities of Madagascar success in the smooth conduct of the Municipal and Communal Elections to be held across Madagascar on 11 December 2024. The event concluded with the symbolic handing over of the keys of the trucks by Ambassador to the President of CENI.

 The gifting of the “Made in India” trucks to CENI, is in line with India’s ancient philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family)” and Vision SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region). As a close neighbour and fellow democracy in the Indian Ocean region, India stands ready to share its developmental experience and expertise as per the needs and requirements of Madagascar.
