ICCR FOUNDATION DAY - 9th APRIL 2019
ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Foundation Day was celebrated on 9th April 2019, in Antananarivo, Madagascar, for the first time as part of global celebrations. ICCR was founded on this day in 1950.
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was founded by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India’s first Education Minister. Its objectives are to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India’s external cultural relations; to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries; to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people; and to develop cultural relations with nations.
The ICCR annually offers approximately 3365 scholarships for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M. Phil./Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in various Indian Universities/Institutes. Of these scholarships, 900 are exclusively for students from the Government of India. All expenses, including international airfare, boarding & lodging, tuition fees, etc. are borne by the Government of India. The ICCR is administered by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Every year, around 15 Malagasy students have been benefitting from these scholarships. Since 2014, 55 Malagasy students have benefitted from these. The fields include Journalism and Communication, Business Administration, Commerce, Science, Information Technology, Economy, etc.
Speaking on this occasion, Ambassador of India, Abhay Kumar highlighted the role of ICCR in promoting understanding among civilizations and nations through cultural exchange, scholarships, distinguished visitors' program among others.
The event was attended by the dignitaries of the Malagasy Government, alumni of ICCR and ITEC in Madagascar, media persons and friends of India and provided an opportunity for students who have studied in India under ICCR scholarships sponsored by the Indian Government to interact with each other and share their experiences during their stay in India. During the event, performances by ITEC Alumni, friends of ITEC and Benja Gasy were held at the Indian Embassy in Antananarivo.

JOURNEE DE LA FONDATION DE L'ICCR - 9 AVRIL 2019
Pour la première fois, la Journée de la Fondation de l'ICCR (Conseil Indien pour les Relations Culturelles) a été célébrée ce 9 avril 2019 à Antananarivo, Madagascar, dans le cadre de la célébration mondiale. ICCR a été fondée ce jour-là en 1950.
Le Conseil indien pour les relations culturelles (ICCR) a été fondé par Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Premier Ministre Indien de l’Education. Ses objectifs consistent à participer activement à la formulation et à la mise en œuvre de politique et de programmes relatifs aux relations culturelles extérieures de l’Inde; favoriser et renforcer les relations culturelles et la compréhension mutuelle entre l'Inde et les autres pays; promouvoir les échanges culturels et développer les relations culturelles avec d'autres pays.
L’ICCR offre chaque année environ 3365 bourses d’études pour les bacheliers, les universitaires, étudiants en doctorat et post doctorat dans diverses universités / instituts indiens. 900 de ces bourses sont exclusivement destinées aux étudiants des pays africains. Toutes les dépenses, y compris les billets d'avion, l'hébergement et les frais universitaires sont pris en charge par le Gouvernement Indien. L’ICCR est sous tutelle du ministère des Affaires Extérieures, du Gouvernement Indien.
Chaque année, environ 15 étudiants malgaches ont bénéficié de ces bourses. Depuis 2014, 55 étudiants malgaches en ont bénéficié. Les filières d'études comprennent, entre autres, le Journalisme et la Communication, l'Administration des Affaires , le Commerce, les Sciences, les technologies de l'Information, l'Economie, etc.
Dans son discours, à cette occasion, l'Ambassadeur de l'Inde, M. Abhay Kumar, a souligné le rôle de l'ICCR dans la promotion de la compréhension entre les civilisations et les nations par le biais d'échanges culturels, de bourses d'études et d'un programme de visiteurs remarquables.
Des représentants du gouvernement malgache, des anciens étudiants de l'ICCR et de l'ITEC à Madagascar, des journalistes et des amis de l'Inde ont assisté à cet événement qui a été une occasion pour les étudiants qui ont obtenu des bourses du Gouvernement Indien à travers l' ICCR de se retrouver et de partager leurs expériences vécues lors de leur séjour en Inde. Au cours de cet événement, des représentations d’anciens de l’ITEC, d’amis de l’ITEC et de Benja Gasy ont eu lieu à l’Ambassade de l'Inde à Antananarivo.
