Ambassador’s Remarks at the Special Yoga Session
(Antsiranana, 21 December 2024)

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar H.E. Mrs. Rasata Rafaravavitafika,

Secretary General of Diana Region Mr. Pico Jacques,

Commander of the Naval Base of Antsiranana,

Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Namaste, Salama, Good Morning! It is my pleasure to once again visit the beautiful city of Antsiranana and to take part in today’s special Yoga session. I am deeply grateful to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for her gracious support to this event.

2.      Yoga is an ancient Indian practice of holistic wellness, which emphasizes the unity of body and soul. You might be aware of the United Nations General Assembly resolution of 2014 which declared 21 June to be celebrated as the International Day of Yoga every year. It is heartening to witness the strong support of the Government of Madagascar for promotion of Yoga across the country. I take this opportunity to encourage the people of Madagascar to take advantage of the free classes of Yoga conducted daily at the Embassy in Antananarivo.

3.      In conclusion, I would like to reaffirm that in line with the ancient Indian philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family)" and Vision SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), India stands ready to share its developmental experience and expertise as per the needs of Madagascar, without any ulterior motive. I am confident that today's special Yoga session in the picturesque city of Antsiranana will help to further strengthen India-Madagascar partnership, especially in the field of tourism. Once again, I thank you all for taking part in today’s event. Misaotra Tompoko.
