Ambassador’s Remarks on the occasion of World Hindi Day-2025

(10 January 2025)

Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training of Madagascar H.E. Mrs. Marie Marcelline Rasoloarisoa,

Minister of Youth and Sports H.E. Mr. Abdulah Marson Moustapha,

Special Adviser to the President of Madagascar H.E. Mr. Patrick Rajoelina,

Secretary General of Ministry of Labour, Employment and Civil Service,

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Communication and Culture,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Namaste, Salama, Good Morning. It is my pleasure to welcome you all to this year’s celebrations of Vishwa Hindi Diwas (World Hindi Day). I am grateful to the Ministers of Technical Education and Youth and Sports as well as the Special Adviser to the President for their gracious support to this event.

2. It has been almost two decades since the first “World Hindi Day” was marked by the Government of India in January 2006, to commemorate the first “World Hindi Conference” held in Nagpur (India) on 10 January 1975. As you know, Hindi is the world’s third most spoken language, with more than 600 million speakers, not only in India but also in countries like Nepal, Mauritius, South Africa, Fiji, Suriname etc. Known for its simplicity and spontaneity, Hindi serves as a gateway to India’s rich history, culture, literature, music, and even Bollywood films. I take this opportunity to encourage the people of Madagascar to take advantage of the free classes of Hindi conducted daily at the Embassy.

3. I would like to conclude by reaffirming that as a close neighbor and fellow developing country in the Indian Ocean region, India cherishes its long-standing ties of friendship and people-to-people linkages with Madagascar. Embassy will work closely with relevant Ministries and Agencies of the Government of Madagascar to further strengthen India-Madagascar partnership in the areas of youth, sports, culture, technical education, capacity building, agriculture, renewable energy etc. Once again, I thank you all for joining today’s celebrations of Vishwa Hindi Diwas. Dhanyavaad (Thank you), Misaotra Tompoko!
